The Trifecta of Tech
Design is one of the most interesting and dynamic fields to learn today. Like Technology, you only need two things to take the theory into practice: a laptop and the Internet. Generously immersed in these fields, you will find yourself scratching an itch to create something whether it is a digital marketing plan or start-up app, the applications in the sea of new products and services are seemingly endless.
Paul Rand, a corporate designer famous for the IBM logo, once said that aesthetics and business are traditionally incompatible disciplines. This month's HBR only confirms two things: that the intersection between design, technology, and business works, and that this unique connection is finally getting noticed. This ideal state is what I would call the Trifecta, the secret sauce formed by mixing business model frameworks under the influence of good design principles, and enabled by disruptive technologies such as Cloud.
For techpreneurs, marketers, and bizdev folks who are pretty much into the similar esoteric topics, here's a list of my recommended Must-Reads for September 2015:
- Infographics: The Power of Visual Storytelling by Column Five; (for content marketers to move from concept to executing ideas)
- Make Your Mark: The Creative's Guide to Building Business with Impact by 99u (a collaboration between Behance and Adobe); (for creatives getting involved in business strategy) and
- Harvard Business Review magazine September 2015 issue: The Evolution of Design Thinking: It's No Longer Just For Products. Executives are Using This Approach to Devise Strategy and Manage Change. (for executives looking for innovative approaches).
From a personal note, I hope that discovering the different dimensions of three random topics will spark inspiration in pursuing your own trifecta, a pyramid of ideals that point you to your passion and purpose.
